About

Little Richard’s Almanac

Little Richard’s Almanac (LRA) creates narrative-driven animations that translate music into surreal, associative visual worlds in an effort to

champion independent voices within an increasingly algorithmic landscape.

Niki Elliott is an executive producer, filmmaker, and co-founder of Little Richard’s Almanac. She oversees production across the practice—including artist collaborations, websites, and communications—while contributing to the development and creation of LRA’s animations.

Ron Laboray (www.ronlaboray.com) is a visual artist, educator, and co-founder of Little Richard’s Almanac. With an extensive exhibition record, he is known for large-scale drawings rooted in musical and cultural iconography. He is the director of the art program at Western Carolina University and collaborates with Elliott across all aspects of LRA’s work.

Global Collaborations and Recognition

LRA collaborates with artists across the globe, including The Brian Jonestown Massacre (Berlin), Federale (Portland), and L.A. Mood (Melbourne). Their work has been screened internationally, with Advice from a Stranger (2025) receiving nominations for Best Music Video at the Miami International Sci-Fi Film Festival and PopCon International Film Festival.

In 2026, LRA will present a continuous program of animated works at the Nauru Pavilion of the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.

Reimagining the Gallery Experience

When exhibited together, Ron Laboray’s paintings and LRA’s animated music videos create a multisensory environment that expands the traditional gallery experience. Music functions as both visual reference and audible presence, offering an immediate and accessible point of entry that encourages recognition, engagement, and conversation.

Mission and Vision

LRA is committed to cultural equity and preservation, supporting independent and experimental musicians worldwide. Through animation, the collective expands how this work is seen and circulated, creating new pathways for recognition and access.
